Jackson Magnolia Roller Vixens Are Back Again for Round Two

Jackson, Miss. (Feb. 22, 2011) – The hard-hitting, heart-stopping, Magnolia Roller Vixens announced the kicking off of their much anticipated second season of roller derby here in Jackson, Mississippi.

The team will kick off the season with their first charitable event on March 26, in partnership with the world famous Sweet Potato Queens for their Zippity Doo Dah Parade in Fondren. Prior to the parade, the team will host its annual “Running of the Bulls” event. Armed with only skates and nerf bats, the team will chase brave contributors up and down the streets of Fondren. All proceeds for this full day event will go to the Sweet Potato Queen’s – Blair E Batson fund.

The first bout of the season will be held on April 16, 2001 against the Hub City Derby Dames of Hattiesburg, Miss. With some of the best skaters in Mississippi, the Misfits are sure to pose a challenge for the Vixens, who have spent the winter training in their off season in order to prepare for this years ambitious schedule.

Other Vixen home dates include:

  • May 21, against the Torpedo Bay Roller Girls from Mobile, Ala.
  • June 4, against the Capital Offenders, from the Red Stick Roller Derby league in Baton Rouge, La
  • July 9, against the Priskilla Presleys from Memphis Roller Derby league
  • Aug 20, against the Acadiana Roller Girls from Lafayette, LA

All of the Vixens home games are held at the Jackson Convention Complex on Pascagoula St. Doors open at 6 pm, and the action starts at 7 pm. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door, and kids 12 and under are $5. Tickets can be purchased at www.magnoliarollervixens.com or from your favorite roller girl. Season passes are also available. Dates are subject to change.
