Who are we?

Magnolia Roller Vixens is a community-wise sports initiative for adult females. Our purpose is for fun, friendly sports competition among like-minded women.  Magnolia Roller Vixens promotes and fosters the sport of women’s flat track derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among its team members and staff. The governing philosophy is “by the skaters, for the skaters.”  The league adopts the rules and regulations of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association.

The Magnolia Roller Vixens was founded by Lizbeth Von Lush, Ishee Ruthless, Err’n Geaux Brawl, Rowdy Reeta Ricochet, and Kat A. Tonic in April 2008 and has grown from 5 original members to a current roster of 20 skaters. All participants are unpaid amateurs and the league provides insurance coverage for practices and bouts.

MRV formed a junior division of the league in October 2011. The Magnolia Roller Vixens is the FIRST league in Jackson, MS to have a junior roller derby team!

The Magnolia Roller Vixens became a Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice League in January 2011 and a full member of WFTDA in December 2012. The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is the international governing body for the sport of women’s flat track roller derby, and a membership organization for leagues to collaborate and network. The WFTDA sets standards for rules, seasons, and safety, and determines guidelines for the national and international athletic competitions of member leagues. There are currently 172 WFTDA member leagues and 94 leagues in the WFTDA Apprentice Program.

Mission of the MRV Skaters

During competitions and public appearances, we strive to exhibit strong sportsmanship and friendly entertainment.

We never intend to offend and we try to be discretionary in all capacities. The actions of all league members reflect on the integrity of MRV and the sport of roller derby across the country.

MRV league members seek to set a strong example for women, young girls, and sports lovers everywhere! It is our goal, first and foremost to show that women can be tough, strong, independent, competitive – and do it all in the spirit of respect… and for the love of the game.

Community & Charity

The Vixens are committed to giving back to the community and volunteering our time to various charities through out the year.  MRV contributes to all no-kill shelters in the Jackson area.  We are proud to be the first league to have a featured Pet of the Month section.

The Magnolia Roller Vixens are proud members of the Metro Jackson Chamber of Commerce.  MRV has built many relationships with local businesses and is committed to strengthening the bonds already made and creating new ones.
