About MRV
Magnolia Roller Vixens is a community-wise sports initiative for adult females. Our purpose is for fun, friendly sports competition among like-minded women. Magnolia Roller Vixens promotes and fosters the sport of women's flat track derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among its team members and staff. The governing philosophy is "by the skaters, for the skaters." The league adopts the rules and regulations of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. The Magnolia Roller Vixens was founded by Lizbeth Von Lush, Ishee Ruthless, Err'n Geaux Brawl, Rowdy Reeta Ricochet, and Kat A. Tonic in April 2008 and has grown from 5 original members to a current roster of 11 skaters. All participants are unpaid amateurs and the league provides insurance coverage for practices and bouts. MRV formed a junior division of the league in November 2008. The Magnolia Roller Vixens is the FIRST league in Jackson, MS to have a junior roller derby team! Mission of the MRV Skaters We never intend to offend and we try to be discretionary in all capacities. The actions of all league members reflect on the integrity of MRV and the sport of roller derby across the country. MRV league members seek to set a strong example for women, young girls, and sports lovers everywhere! It is our goal, first and foremost to show that women can be tough, strong, independent, competitive – and do it all in the spirit of respect... and for the love of the game. Community & Charity The Magnolia Roller Vixens are proud members of the Metro Jackson Chamber of Commerce. MRV has built many relationships with local businesses and is committed to strengthening the bonds already made and creating new ones.
